DUI Driver Arrested After Hitting Car on Duke Street: Police

Police say a driver under the influence hit another car and tied up traffic Monday in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- An intoxicated driver hit another car Monday and closed down part of Duke Street Monday in Alexandria, according to police.

Police say the incident took place in the 800 block of Duke Street (see map below) where the driver hit another car; the person was arrested and charged with DUI and Hit and Run, according to police. No one was injured, according to police.

Alexandria Police posted a message on social media about the incident Monday at about 4 p.m.

According to the DMV, if an officer pulls you over and your blood alcohol concentration is the following percentage or higher, he or she will arrest you for DUI:

  • 21 years old or older: 0.08%.
  • Younger than 21 years old: 0.02%.
  • Commercial Drivers (CDL) :0.04%.
