• Man pleads guilty to first-degree murder in 2025 fatal shooting in Portsmouth (wavy.com) — A Portsmouth man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2025 shooting death of 62-year-old Carlos Basnight on London Boulevard and received a decades-long prison sentence. Prosecutors say surveillance video showed the gunman approach Basnight's car, fire four shots and rob him before fleeing. The Portsmouth Commonwealth's Attorney says the outcome aims to provide some closure for the victim's family.
