19 Robberies Near Reston, Herndon Are Connected: Police

Police are investigating a string of robberies often involving gas stations in the area.

RESTON/HERNDON, VA -- After three robberies were reported in the Reston and Herndon area in a 24-hour span, Fairfax County Police are now investigating a string of 19 robberies throughout the region as connected.

"Our Major Crimes Bureau is working with detectives from the Herndon Police Department, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force to identify suspects in these robberies, all of which have occurred in the last five weeks," according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department. "Nine of the robberies, including one of the ones from last night, were in Fairfax County. Two commercial robberies have been reported in the Town of Herndon, and eight in Loudoun County, including two last night."

Police have released the above surveillance photos, and are asking anyone with information to come forward. They describe the suspects as males between 5'4" and 6' tall, and in one case the suspect was armed with a rifle.
