70-Year-Old From Herndon Dies 3 Days After Crash On Dranesville Road

HERNDON, VA — A 70-year-old Herndon woman died from injuries she received in a single-vehicle crash that occurred Aug. 11 on Dranesville Road within the Reston Police District, according to Fairfax County Police.

Investigators from FCPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that Flavia Caero was driving north on Dranesville Road in a 2018 Toyota Corolla, when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a retaining wall near Shallow Ford Road.

Caero was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for her injuries, but she died three days after the crash, according to police. Preliminarily, neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

Caero's death is the 10th non-pedestrian-related fatal crash in Fairfax County in 2023. Over the same period in 2022, 10 non-pedestrian-related fatal crashes had occurred.
