Reston Woman Dragged Into Woods In Attempted Sexual Assault: Police

"Once in the woods the suspect tried to remove the victim's clothing, but then left suddenly," police say.

RESTON, VA — Police are on the scene of an "abduction/attempted sexual assault" on North Shore Drive in Reston.

Police say a 22-year-old woman was walking at around 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 12000 block of North Shore Drive when a man she didn't know "approached her from behind, and dragged her into the nearby woods," according to a report by Fairfax County Police.

"Once in the woods the suspect tried to remove the victim’s clothing, but then left suddenly," the report states.

The suspect was last seen in a gray or silver Hyundai fleeing the area, police said, adding that the car had a tag that may have begun with the letter "V."

"Officers and detectives are on-scene investigating," the report adds.

The address is near the intersection with Wiehle Avenue in the Tall Oaks neighborhood.

UPDATE 5:43 p.m.: Police have released a description of the suspect: "Hispanic Male late 20s-early 30s, brown hair, beard, gray shirt, shorts, & red hat."
