Patch Recognizes College Students From Reston Who Earned Academic Honors

RESTON, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Reston area, Patch shares information provided the students' families and Merit News.

Jordan Lee of Reston was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. For an undergraduate student to be named to the dean's list, they must carry 12 or more credit hours and earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Abby Leary of Reston was named to the dean's list for the fall 2021 semester at Ithaca College, in Ithaca, New York.

Joseph Bottom, a Reston resident and 2021 Herndon High graduate, is a freshman majoring in business at Mary Baldwin University, in Staunton, Virginia. Bottom was named to the school's honors list for the fall 2021 semester by earning a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

Lydia Payne of Reston was named to the dean's list at list for the fall 2021 term at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, George. To earn a spot on the dean's list, a student must be enrolled in 12 or more graded hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Margo Somer of Reston earned dean's list honors for the fall semester at the University of Tampa in Florida. Shapiro is majoring in international business and marketing in UT's Business School. To earn a spot on the dean's list, a student must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher for the semester.

The following undergraduate students from Reston graduated with honors during commencement ceremonies in December at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia:

• Samantha Busch of Reston graduated cum laude with a degree in biophysical chemistry.
• Chelsea Le Sage of Reston graduated magna cum laude with a degree(s) in computer science.
• Alexandra Dauchess of Reston graduated magna cum laude with a degree in media arts and design.
