Active Shooter Training At Reston School On Friday

Expect lots of fire trucks and police cars as emergency personnel train in the area throughout the day.

RESTON, VA — The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will be conducting an active-shooter training exercise at Terraset Elementary School on Friday, so expect a ton of fire department and police vehicles in the area throughout the day.

The training exercise will take place from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and will additionally involve the Fairfax County Police Department, the Town of Vienna Police Department, and CIA officers, according to a statement from the Reston Association.

A total of 20 fire department vehicles and 12 police vehicles are expected to be present. Manikins will be used as fire and rescue personnel evacuate to local hospitals. Some of the vehicles will be staged at nearby Langston Hughes Intermediate School.

"Members of the public are asked to keep their distance due to the many moving vehicles," the RA statement adds. "Terraset Elementary School will remain open for those needing to conduct business with the school."
