Alarming Video Shows Sparks Flying From Reston-Bound Train-Report

A Twitter user uploaded a concerning video that appears to show a Metro train bound for Reston sparking from its wheels.

RESTON, VA — A Twitter user uploaded an alarming video Monday morning of what appears to be a Metro train near Reston with a wheel throwing sparks everywhere. The video is embedded at the bottom of this post.

The user, @latinlingo, said the video was taken at 6 a.m. of a train with no passengers on the Silver Line to Reston.

The video appears to be taken from a car driving on the Dulles Toll Road alongside the train.

The user went on to state in the comments that the train was bound for the Wiehle-Reston Station and it appeared to be an older model train car.

UPDATE: WMATA spokesman Richard Jordan told Patch the following: "That is due to a brake pad not fully releasing. The train was taken out of service and taken to a yard."
