DULLES, VA — United Airlines will add two nonstop routes from Washington Dulles later this year, including service to Orange County, California, and San José del Cabo, Mexico.
The Orange County/Santa Ana route is scheduled to begin Aug. 11 and will operate daily year-round on a Boeing 737. United said it will be the airline’s first route between Dulles and Orange County/Santa Ana, and that no other airline currently flies to Orange County from the three major D.C.-area airports.
The San José del Cabo route is scheduled to begin Oct. 25 and will operate four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays for most of the winter, with daily flights during peak December travel. The flights also will use Boeing 737 aircraft.
United said the Los Cabos route will return the destination to its Dulles network for the first time since 2019.
“Los Cabos has become a go-to destination for travelers looking for a premium vacation, and we’re excited to add this new nonstop option from Washington Dulles,” said Tom Kozlowski, senior manager of Latin and Hawaii network planning for United Airlines. “With this new service, United customers will now be able to get directly to Los Cabos from all seven of our hubs — making travel even easier to one of the destinations they’re most excited to visit.”
United also said Orange County will become its sixth California destination from Dulles.
“These new flights reflect United’s continued growth at Dulles, adding two new nonstop destinations that offer D.C.-area travelers easier access to Orange County, California, and Los Cabos, Mexico,” said Henry Bird, managing director of United’s Dulles hub. “As the DMV’s largest and most on-time major airline, we’re focused on giving travelers more convenient nonstop options and an elevated experience. We look forward to welcoming them onboard.”
United said both flights would be available to book on United.com and in the United app.
The airline said the announcement follows its busiest Memorial Day weekend systemwide. United said it had zero cancellations across its D.C.-area airports during the three-day holiday weekend and continues to lead year-to-date local on-time performance among major airlines.
United also recently began summer service from Dulles to Reykjavík, Iceland, and added weekly flights to Halifax and Québec City. The airline said it also resumed flights to Nice, France; Venice, Italy; Anchorage, Alaska; and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. United also added a second daily flight to Rome and said it will offer daily flights to Honolulu later this summer.
