Residents can now pay taxes at self-service kiosks (fairfaxtimes.com) — Reston residents can now pay Fairfax County personal property taxes at a new self-service kiosk inside the North County Government Center, available 24/7 thanks to its police-station location. The machines accept cash, checks, and cards, and offer receipts and balance checks, giving locals a closer, more flexible option ahead of the Oct. 5 payment deadline.
   

2. Public Safety - Week of August 28, 2026 (fairfaxtimes.com) — Reston residents are learning that a community tip from National Night Out helped police arrest a suspect tied to numerous local vehicle burglaries, while a separate crash response saw a utility pole fall onto an ambulance, injuring a firefighter and civilian. The roundup also covers countywide enforcement campaigns, regional crime cases, and a major ICE operation affecting the broader area.

The EEOC says Apple must update its policies, train managers, and report on future denials, reinforcing protections for workers who need schedule changes for faith observance.
