Today's riddle: Why did the girl pig break up with the boy pig? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Major Housing, Office Changes Proposed Near Wiehle-Reston East Metro (patch.com) — Major redevelopment plans around the Wiehle-Reston East Metro could bring hundreds of new homes, expanded office space, a hotel, and added retail to nearly 58 acres in Reston. Residents can learn about proposed changes to Commerce Metro Center, Association Drive, and 11600 Sunrise Valley Drive at a community meeting Monday, Oct. 5, at Langston Hughes Middle School.
2. Reston Town Center Metro Kiss & Ride Could Become Part Of Larger Development (patch.com) — Fairfax County supervisors have cleared the way for the Reston Town Center Metro Kiss & Ride lot to be evaluated as part of a major transit-oriented redevelopment proposal, though no sale or construction is approved yet. The move lets planners study adding housing and improving transit facilities on the 1.86-acre county parcel, with any actual redevelopment requiring a future public vote by the Board of Supervisors.
3. Reston resident completes 1,000-mile bicycle ride for charity (ffxnow.com) — Reston resident Don Weber just wrapped up an ambitious 1,000-mile charity bike ride supporting Watts of Love, a nonprofit bringing solar lights to communities without electricity. Riding with colleagues from Illinois to Herndon, he battled mechanical issues and long, hilly days, ultimately helping raise more than $38,000 and already looking ahead to an even more scenic ride planned for 2027.
4. Tysons apartment costs rise, other areas of county see drop in new data (ffxnow.com) — Reston renters can expect slightly lower prices this fall, with median one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and overall apartment rents all down about 1% from last year. New data from Apartment List shows most Fairfax County communities seeing modest rent declines, while Tysons bucks the trend with increases. The report also compares Fairfax to nearby Arlington, Alexandria, and national markets.
