RESTON, VA — Families can exchange leftover Halloween candy for cash at Tisseront Orthodontics on Monday, Nov. 2, while supporting Children's National and sending treats to U.S. troops stationed overseas.
Dr. Stephan Tisseront and his team will host their 19th annual Halloween candy buyback from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the outdoor common area at the practice, 11720 Plaza America Drive, Suite 110, in Reston. Orange balloons will mark the event location.
For each pound of candy turned in, participants will receive $1, and the practice will donate $1 to Children's National, according to the event announcement. Participants also may donate their payments to Children's National.
The collected candy will be shipped to American troops overseas, along with handwritten letters of gratitude that community members can write during the event.
Each pound of candy also earns one raffle ticket, with a maximum of 25 tickets per person, according to the event flyer. The listed grand prize is a pair of Meta Adventurer glasses.
Face painting and family activities also are planned.
Over the program's history, organizers say they have collected more than 21,400 pounds of Halloween candy and donated more than $36,700 to Children's National.
