Art Show Reception - Sunday, August 9
Meet artist, Marie Straw, and see new works in her show, "Birds of a Feather", at Reston Art Gallery & Studios.

All are welcome to view new works in the show “Birds of a Feather” and meet artist, Marie Straw, at a reception on Sunday, August 9 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Reston Art Gallery & Studios, 11400 Washington Plaza, on the waterfront of Lake Anne Plaza. The exhibit is on display through September 3 for viewing on weekends, or by chance or appointment through the week.
Marie Straw works with different media, discovering the changing properties in each. In her works of acrylics and collage elements on paper, canvas, plywood and even tar paper, she is constantly experimenting to attain the look she wants to achieve. Straw is primarily self-taught through study with several local artists, art books, and visiting art shows and museums.
The Straw exhibit and works by the other resident artists can be viewed on weekends from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays at Reston Art Gallery & Studios, 11400 Washington Plaza, Reston, Virginia, on the waterfront at Lake Anne Plaza. Special exhibits of fine art and receptions are presented each month in the working studios and gallery at RAGS. The next two shows are listed below. Reston Art Gallery & Studios (RAGS), established in 1986, exhibits fine art by eleven resident artists. Situated on the quayside of Reston’s Lake Anne waterfront, RAGS artists work in their studio spaces on view, and the public is invited to admire, peruse, and purchase original art directly from its source.
Just outside of the entrance to Reston Art Gallery & Studios are two works of public art c. 1965 – the Moon Viewing Platform by James Rossant, designer of Lake Anne Plaza, and the playful Sun Boat by sculptor Gonzalo Fonseca.
Every Saturday, Children’s Art Workshops are offered at no charge at RAGS from 10 am until 12 pm. Located on the ground floor of the 15-story Heron House, RAGS is a privately-owned cooperative of artists of various media, including: Pat Macintyre; Roberta Thole; Joan Kelly; Kathy Kautter; Maggie Stewart; Claudia Samper; Lassie Corbett; Ronni Jolles; Dorothy Donahey; Marie Straw; Gail Axtell.
