Bank Robber Arrested After Reston Town Center Heist: Police

BREAKING: Police say they have their man after a Wells Fargo was robbed Wednesday morning.

RESTON, VA — Police have made an arrest in the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Reston Town Center Wednesday morning.

Police say that shortly after 9 a.m., a man entered the Wells Fargo at 11911 Freedom Dr. in Reston Town Center, implied he had a weapon and demanded money from a teller. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries in the encounter, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"The police helicopter, K9 and SWAT responded to the scene to assist in the investigation," the report states. "A suspect was located and taken into custody a short distance from the bank."

During the search, police blocked off an area near the intersection of Old Reston Avenue and Sycamore Valley Drive, which is a few blocks east of the bank's location in a residential area.

The investigation is ongoing. Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his 20s, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and wearing camo pants with black pants underneath, as well as a black fleece jacket and a black winter cap.
