UPDATE: Barcelona Wine Bar, Bartaco Have Tentative Opening Date in Reston

The finishing touches are being put on long-awaited and much-anticipated restaurants in Reston: Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar and its companion eatery bartaco, at Reston Town Center.

After stopping by the restaurants Thursday, a Reston Patch reader tells us the owners are looking at a tentative soft opening date of Friday, April 10. (That’s likely barring any last-minute complications that often rear up as any business opens.) Reston Patch will stay tuned for any new information or developments from the restaurants.

Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar, a Spanish tapas restaurant, is located at 12025 Town Square St. in Reston, in Reston Town Center, in the same building as The Avant apartments. Bartaco is located at 12021 Town Square St.

Reston Town Center describes Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar as offering Mediterranean-inspired tapas and entrées, cocktails, extensive wine list. Bartaco will offer fresh gourmet tacos and a tequileria.

The restaurants are looking to hire, according to a Craigslist ad placed five days ago: “Barcelona Wine Bar is currently accepting applications for Bartenders, Servers, Runners, Bussers and all FOH Staff for our newest location, opening soon in Reston Town Center. All new hires will be trained and work in Washington D.C, at Barcelona Wine Bar 14th Street, until Reston opening. Please return to this posting with a resume listing recent work history and include in the title of the email the position you are applying for. If you prefer, you may apply online at barcelonawinebar.com. Please select “Careers” and follow the prompts.”

Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar got its start in 1995, and now has nine locations including one in Washington, D.C. on 14th Street and another location coming to northwest DC at 3310 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Some of the restaurants have live music, cooking classes and “wine time social hours.”

bartaco is more casual, has five locations and serves up tacos, rotisserie chicken, ceviche and more.

“Since 1995, Barcelona Wine Bar has aimed to provide guests with an extensive wine list, fine Spanish food, and a recreation of the atmosphere on Barcelona’s famed main avenue, Las Ramblas. This restaurant has even hosted two dinners at New York City’s The James Beard House—one of the highest honors in the food industry.

Although the menus for the Reston location have not been announced yet, its recently opened Washington, D.C. spot serves tapas-filled dinners and lunches.

Bartaco’s (“Bar Taco”) fifth location opening in Reston will provide a hip spot for people who love DJs spinning tunes during dinner and sipping craft margaritas. While takeout is available, patrons will probably want to dine in to fully experience the buzz!”
