Big Oktoberfest Fundraiser at the Lake House This Saturday for Reston Soccer
Reston Soccer is hosting an Oktoberfest-inspired cocktail party, with the proceeds going to the organization.

RESTON, VA — Reston Soccer has some big plans for the future, and in order to fund that future they'll need some generous donors. To help encourage some giving, the organization is hosting its 1st Annual Cocktail Party Fundraiser at the Reston Association's new Lake House this weekend.
The Oktoberfest-themed fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and it will cost $50 per person with all proceeds to benefit Reston Soccer, according to a statement.
"Eat. Drink. Mingle. Give," reads the statement. "It's a cocktail affair with a modern twist on the Oktoberfest. We have a beautiful, fantastic and FUN event in store including a Live Auction!"

As Patch reported in July, Reston Soccer is pushing for a year-round soccer facility and nighttime lighting. The association's president, Roberto Anguizola, spoke at a Reston Association Board of Directors meeting on July 28 about his desire not to have to rely on area grass fields that must be shut down during the fall and don't reopen until April.
He said in an interview that he doesn't expect the Reston Association to pay for it, and is hoping to raise the money through private donations.

"We're not going to the Reston Association hat in hand and asking them to pay for anything," he said "We're asking whether we can go through the process to see whether our proposal, after it gets sufficient input from the community, is something the community is willing to accept."
Anguizola said he plans to recommend a referendum in the spring 2017 time frame.
