Big Reston Density Meeting Monday Night

The Coalition for a Planned Reston is meeting at the RA Conference Center to talk about next steps.

RESTON, VA -- The war against Fairfax County's plan to raise the density limit in Reston continues in earnest Monday night, as the newly formed Coalition for a Planned Reston (CPR) will meet to discuss next steps.

The "One Reston" community meeting will take place at the Reston Association's Conference Center at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11.

  • Hear an update on the County's Reston PRC proposal since the October 23rd meeting with Supervisor Hudgins.
  • Hear CPR's specific draft proposals to amend the Reston Master Plan to limit growth and assure the infrastructure keeps pace.
  • Share your questions and ideas on issues CPR may have missed.
  • Help CPR stop the unwarranted additional density called for in the Reston PRC zoning ordinance proposal.

The county's proposed density limit increase in Reston has been met with stiff opposition by a vocal segment of the Reston community, who argues that the move would cause an explosion of development even though they claim current infrastructure in the area can't handle it. Tempers flared at a meeting on the proposal in October as hundreds of protesters packed South Lakes High School's cafeteria to opposite the density limit increase.
