Bone-Chilling Cold Swooping In On Reston For New Year's

It doesn't look like a snowstorm is going to materialize, but it will be quite cold in the D.C. area.

Forecasts around Christmas suggested this week might be ripe for a snowstorm or two, but it looks like those hopes have all about evaporated. It will be very, very cold, but the precipitation is just not there, according to forecasts.

That's not to say we couldn't see some snowflakes, which appears to be a strong possibility on Saturday. And with the extreme cold set to stick around a while, next week is always a possibility.

It'll be mostly sunny and cold through the remainder of the week, before we get some cloud cover on Saturday and some snowflakes through the day, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. Highs should be in the upper 20s to lower 30s, so it will be positively bone-chilling out there, dipping into the teens by night.

Sunday will be similarly cold, so bundle up if you're headed out for New Year's Eve festivities. As you recover from the fun on New Year's Day, keep those shades drawn, as it will be mostly sunny and cold, as well as quite windy.
