Boston Properties: Tenants, Not Reston Town Center, Decide Which Garages to Validate

Patrons at RTC have complained about validations not working at some garages, but RTC says that is up to the tenants.

RESTON, VA — The company that manages Reston Town Center says many people have gotten the wrong idea about validation and parking garages since the start of paid parking.

Recently published reports suggest that some visitors to RTC have been frustrated at the fact that parking validation offered by some retailers and restaurants applies to only one garage rather than all garages, and it appears many are upset with RTC for the situation.

Rob Weinhold of the Fallston Group, which represents Boston Properties, said there has been a lot of "misinformation" reported about retail and restaurant parking validation recently, and that it is up to individual tenants to decide which garages to validate, not RTC.

"Each retailer and restaurateur, at their sole discretion, decide which garages they choose to validate," Weinhold said. "As previously communicated, each retailer and restaurateur makes their own business decision about (1) participating in the validation program and (2) what validation terms they choose to incorporate within their unique business model, to include validating for all or select garages."

If you are patronizing a restaurant or retailer that validates, be sure to ask them which garage they will validate for in order to avoid unexpected charges.
