Over Age 50? Train With Dumbbells!
Many people over the age of 50 ask me what is the best exercise program for them. Unfortunately, the answer is not as easy as the question.

Many people over the age of 50 ask me what is the best exercise program for them. Unfortunately, the answer is not as easy as the question. The best exercise program for you is one that is both safe and effective and addresses your health and fitness needs.
Obviously needs and safety will be different for everyone. But if you regularly participate in a well designed exercise program; the benefits are enormous. As an example, one of the articles I wrote in this month's Sequoia Health newsletter is entitled Over Age 50? Train With Dumbbells! Click Here to read the entire newsletter article.
Even though dumbbells are a superior training tool, they may not be the best starting point for your exercise program. You may have been sedentary for a very long time or have a health condition that suggests a different starting place.
Starting too high on what I call "the fitness ladder" places a higher than beneficial demand on your body. This usually results in injury, being sidelined for a time and disappointment in the results.
The bottom line is this. If you are over age 50, seek out professional help to at least get a good start with your exercise program. Once you have the best exercise program for you, then strike out on your own with confidence and conviction.
