Think spring! Smart Markets Reston is back in full force this Wednesday at Reston Corner, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive. After years of shorter hours, we will be open from 3–7 p.m. to enable even more of Reston's residents to shop.
Your favorite vendors will be back, and we have many new vendors this year -- surprises at every turn. We will have young farmers who are farming organically, Pennsylvania Mennonites farming as they have for generations, and farmers who are farming as their grandparents did in West Virginia and Mexico. And the best part is that you can talk to all of them and learn everything you want to know about how they farm.

We will have locally prepared foods for vegetarians and vegans and gluten-free diet adherents. We have bakers who bring bread, pastries, cake pops, candies, Celtic pasties, and Peruvian empanadas. We have kettle corn for the kiddies and Virginia wines for the grown-ups. And lots more scattered throughout our largest market in Northern Virginia.
We've got BBQ and a shiny new food truck, Taste of Local, which specializes in serving up delicious local beef in numerous devilish guises for take-home or eating at the market.

Our late-arriving spring should be a great boost to the spring veggies that have been lingering in the greenhouse or lagging in the field, and we may actually have peas and asparagus by the end of the month! Maybe. We all know how to keep our fingers crossed, right?
See you at the market!
