WHERE: Reston Town Center @ 11900 Market Street, Reston

The Walk begins at twilight, providing a beautiful visual as walkers turn on their illuminated red, white, and gold lanterns, illustrating to all on-site that they are not alone in their fight against cancer. Champions For Cures, all those who raise at least $100, will receive access to music, games, and refreshments throughout the evening.

Friday, the Reston Town Center event will be emceed by WTTG/Fox 5’s Sarah Simmons andiHeartMedia/WMZQ 98.7’s Aly Jacobs.

Walkers raise funds in honor of local Honored Heroes, patients or survivors of blood cancer who provide inspiration and support. Blood cancers know no boundaries, and this year’s honored heroes are diverse in age, race and gender.

Joe Schumacher is a Fairfax Country fireman, and two-time cancer survivor who walks for cancer cures. Lindsay Adams is in her 30s and currently battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The Gainesville resident walks to bring hope to others, as LLS has brought hope to her. Four-year-old Nicholas is in treatment for ALL, and his family walks so other families do not have to experience the same journey.
