Christmas Weekend in Reston: What's Open, What's Closed

RESTON, VA — Christmas is almost here, and for many that involves traveling to visit friends and family. But for locals who stick around, it can mean confusion about when services will be available, especially this year when Christmas falls on a Sunday and the official federal holiday is on Monday, the 26th. Here's a complete breakdown of what facilities and services will be available this weekend and beyond in Reston and the rest of Fairfax County.

PARKS

RECenters: Open on Dec. 24 and 26, but not on Christmas Day.

Historic Sites -- Colvin Run Mill, Sully Historic Site: Closed Dec. 24 and 25, but open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Nature Centers -- E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond, Huntley Meadows: Closed Dec. 24 and 25, but open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Riverbend Park: Closed Dec. 24 and 25, but open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Frying Pan Farm Park: Closed Dec. 24 and 25, and the visitor center will also be closed Dec. 26, but the farm will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Green Spring Gardens: Closed Dec. 24 and 25, and the historic house will also be closed Dec. 26, but the horticultural center will be open from noon until 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 26.

OTHER PUBLIC FACILITIES

Courts: Closed at noon on Dec. 22, and will remain closed until Dec. 27.

Libraries: Closed Dec. 24-26
