CNN: Biden's Reston Visit Could Suggest A Run For The White House

CNN commentator raised the former vice president's Reston trip as a possible sign of bigger ambitions.

RESTON, VA -- Former Vice President Joe Biden has been making headlines today by suggesting that his biggest regret is "that I am not president." And some CNN panelists argued that such remarks -- along with a campaign trip to Reston recently on behalf of victorious Democratic gubernatorial candidate and governor-elect Ralph Northam -- could indicate a run for the White House is in the cards in 2020.

Paul Begala, a CNN political commentator who used to be the chief strategist of the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign, said that Biden's appearance with Northam in Reston last month is a strong sign that he could be mulling a bid for the White House.

"A couple weeks ago he was in Reston, Virginia, campaigning for Ralph Northam. So he's a winner," Begala said during the panel session. You can watch the video clip at the bottom of this article.

Biden was at Refraction in Reston Town Center in mid-October for a closed-door "workforce development roundtable" that he co-hosted with Northam.

During the roundtable, they discussed Northam's G3 plan -- "Get Skilled, Get A Job, and Give Back." The aim of the plan is to "develop a skilled workforce to fill the essential, well-paying new collar jobs of the 21st century in cybersecurity, computer programming, clean energy, healthcare and other high needs areas," according to a statement.

One major concern about a potential Biden candidacy: his age. He would be 79 by the time he took office in January 2021 were he to win, even older than Bernie Sanders, who was 75 in January of this year. Donald Trump turned 71 in June.
