Cornerstones Hosts Virtual Forum With Local State Lawmakers
Reston and Herndon-area lawmakers will be participating in a community forum prior to the Aug. 18 Virginia General Assembly special session.

RESTON, VA — Residents along the Dulles Corridor will have an opportunity to talk to their state officials virtually before they head down to Richmond for Virginia General Assembly’s upcoming special session on Aug. 18.
Cornerstones, the Reston-based nonprofit that provides support and advocacy for people in need, is hosting the Cornerstones Virtual Community Forum on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
During the virtual community forum, state officials Sen. Janet D. Howell (D-32nd), Sen. Jennifer Boysko (D-33rd), Del. Ken Plum (D-36th) and Del. Ibraheem S. Samirah (86th) will share their plans for stabilizing the economy and passing legislation to endure Northern Virginia is a healthy, thriving, and equitable community.

Topics of conversation will include:
- Rebuilding Economic and Social Stability
- Distance Learning and the Digital Divide
- Getting Back to Work and a Living Wage Economy
- Equity and The Opportunity Divide
Facilitating the forum will be E.W. Marshall-Washington, Cornerstones director of community services; Cheryl Simpkins, vice chair, Cornerstones Housing Corporation; Tracey White, vice president, HCA/Reston Hospital Center; and Kerrie Wilson, CEO, Cornerstones

The public is invited to email questions for the lawmakers to advocate@cornerstonesva.org. The deadline to submit a question is Friday, Aug. 7.
