Deadline To File For Seat On Reston’s Board Of Directors Jan. 24

If you live in Reston as an owner or a tenant, you can be fully involved in the election process, according to the election committee.

RESTON, VA – Community members who want to run for a seat on Reston’s board of directors in 2020 are invited to submit and application by Jan. 24 at 5 p.m., according to the Reston Association.

“Now that the big election is over, it’s time to move our focus to grassroots politics, the upcoming Reston Association elections,” Eilizabeth Knapp with the Reston Association’s elections committee said. “If you live in Reston as an owner or a tenant, you can be fully involved in the election process."

The Reston Association Elections Committee will certify candidates to run for four open seats on the board of directors.

Open seats will include two at-large positions, the Hunters Woods/Dogwood District position and the Apartment Owners' Representative. The month-long voting period will begin March 2.

To run for a seat, candidates must be a member of the Reston Association by Jan. 24, 2020 to qualify for the election. An orientation for candidates will be held Feb. 6.

The nine-member RA board is responsible for determining the long-range mission and goals of the association, establishing RA policies and procedures, monitoring finances, approving budgets and setting the annual assessment rate.
