Drunk Driver Gets Passenger Killed In Reston: Police

Police have charged a man after he allegedly crossed the median of a road and struck a Porsche Sunday afternoon.

RESTON, VA -- A man has died after the car he was riding in crossed the median of a roadway and struck a Porsche Sunday afternoon in Reston, and police have charged the driver with driving while intoxicated.

Police responded to the intersection of Baron Cameron Avenue and Lake Fairfax Drive at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, and determined that a 1987 Toyota MR2 was traveling south on Baron Cameron Avenue when it crossed the center median and struck a 2008 Porsche traveling northbound, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

The passenger in the Toyota, 42-year-old Miguel Jimenez of Falls Church, died of his injuries at the hospital. The driver, 45-year-old Jose Jimenez-Yapura, had non-life-threatening injuries.

"Alcohol appears to be a factor and Jimenez-Yapura was charged with DWI," the report states. "It is unknown at this time whether speed was also a factor. The driver of the Porsche, a 16-year-old, was not injured. The accident remains under investigation."
