Dulles Airport Ties Warmth Record: Report

Temperatures soared to 70 degrees, and could go beyond.

Dulles International Airport has just tied the record high for today's date, hitting 70 degrees by around lunch time. And considering it's so early in the day, it appears likely the record will be broken.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang reported the astonishing temperature, and noted that it ties a record that was "set last year, oddly."

The unseasonably warm temperatures are fleeting, however. Over the next 36 hours, temperatures are expected to plunge 50 degrees.

Rain should pick up Friday evening and into the early morning hours as an Arctic front rolls into the area, possibly resulting in some snow mixing in with the rain Saturday.

Saturday will be cold in blustery, with wind chills diving into the 20s, and then dipping into single digits by early Sunday morning.
