Dulles-Bound Flight Delayed By Bomb Threat: Report

DULLES, VA — A United Airlines flight bound for Washington Dulles International Airport landed safely about 4:30 a.m. Monday after passengers were taken off the plane in Denver because of a reported bomb threat, according to reports.

United Flight 2408, an Airbus A321, evacuated passengers before departing from Denver because of a security concern, and the aircraft was later screened and cleared, NBC 4 Washington reported, citing a Dulles statement. The station reported that 200 passengers and seven crew members were on board.

Passengers told NBC Washington they stayed on the plane for a long period before law enforcement came aboard, and the aircraft was moved near a fire station on the tarmac for inspection.

NBC Washington quoted one passenger saying, "Fire trucks, police cars, all types of cars, people in bulletproof vests and helmets and everything, they came on the plane and yeah, it was very strange."

Another passenger told the station, "Some people were very nervous, but we had the attitude of it's probably one of the safest planes to be on right now after they had swept the whole thing."

The New York Post, citing a United spokesperson who spoke to 9News, reported passengers were given food in the terminal and no explosive was found. The outlet also reported the flight left Denver just after 11:30 p.m. local time after a delay of more than five hours and arrived at Dulles at 4:28 a.m.
