Early Voting Begins March 6 In Fairfax Co. For Redistricting Amendment

Voters in Virginia will cast their ballots on a proposed constitutional amendment regarding congressional district redrawing.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Early in-person voting for the April 21 special election allowing voters to consider a proposed constitutional amendment for the Commonwealth of Virginia is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 6.

The amendment concerns the General Assembly's ability to redraw congressional districts for the U.S. House of Representatives.

All registered voters in Virginia are able to cast ballots in the special election on April 21, either in-person or by mail.

The last day to register to vote or update existing registration is April 14. Beginning on April 15, voters can register to vote and cast a provisional ballot on the same day.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

For the upcoming Special Election on April 21, 2026 (Proposed Constitutional Amendment), the following early voting sites in Fairfax County open on March 6, 2026:

  • Fairfax County Government Center
    • Address: 12000 Government Center Parkway, Conference Room 251, Fairfax, VA 22035
    • Hours: Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    • Note: Parking may be limited.
  • Mount Vernon Governmental Center
    • Address: 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306
    • Hours: Monday – Friday: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • North County Governmental Center
    • Address: 1801 Cameron Glen Drive, Reston, VA 20190
    • Hours: Monday – Friday: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

General Weekend Hours (for the sites above):

  • Saturdays (April 11 & April 18 only): 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sundays: Closed

While the main government center locations open in early March, the satellite locations (libraries and community centers) do not open until Saturday, April 11.

The last day to apply for a mail ballot is April 10 at 5 p.m. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before April 21 and received by 12 p.m. on April 24. The last day to drop off a mail ballot in a Drop Box is 7 p.m. on April 21.
