Electrical Fire Causes $40,000 In Damage To Reston Office Building

The Sunday morning fire started in a group of cubicles on the 11th floor of a building on Sunset Hills Road.

RESTON, VA — The two-alarm fire that broke out Sunday morning at a Reston office building was electrical in nature and caused $40,000 in damage, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said in a report late Monday.

Firefighters were called to the 12000 block of Sunset Hills Road shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday to a report of a fire alarm in a high-rise building. Units arrived on the scene and didn't see any fire or smoke at first, but discovered a significant smoke upon reaching the 11th floor, resulting in a second alarm, according to the report.

Fortunately, sprinklers had mostly doused the fire, and firefighters soon took care of the rest of it. Crews spent the rest of the day clearing out smoke on both the 11th and 12th floors.
