Employee Handles Raw Beef, Then Veggies | Reston/Herndon Restaurant Inspections

Fairfax County reported violations at Uptown Cafe, McAlister's Deli, and others on Oct. 12-13.

RESTON/HERNDON, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts inspections of Reston and Herndon restaurants. Reports are generally posted about a week after the inspection. We've listed the violations from inspections at local restaurants -- including an employee at King Pollo who handled raw beef before grabbing some yuca -- from Oct. 12-13, the most recent dates available.

Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed the handsink at the BACK SINK being used TO STORE MUTLIPLE LARGE PLASTIC GLOVES.

Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed that paper towels were not provided at each handwashing sink. TOWEL DISPENSER IN BACK KITCHEN NOT WORKING; NO PAPER TOWELS AT COOKLINE HANDSINK.

Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): When tested, the low temperature, chemical sanitizing warewashing machine was observed with a sanitizing rinse concentration of less than 50 ppm chlorine solution.

Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The food temperature measuring device was found out of calibration in the range of use.
