Fairfax Co. Public Schools Alter Monday Schedule Due To Expected Severe Weather

Fairfax County Public Schools adjusted its hours Monday due to severe thunderstorms and a threat of tornadoes.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Ahead of Monday's hazardous weather forecast, Fairfax County Public Schools will be closing three hours early, according to an FCPS alert.

All schools will end three hours earlier than their regularly scheduled dismissal times. If conditions become unsafe to release students early, they will remain at school until it is deemed safety to release them. FCPS will update families if this occurs.

Severe thunderstorms posing a threat of tornadoes, heavy rains, damaging winds with gusts up to 75 mph and an eventual change to snow are all possible Monday as a powerful storm moves into the D.C. region from Sunday night into Monday, forecasters say.
