Fairfax County Government Offices, Schools Closed Thursday
Due to inclement weather, Fairfax County government offices and schools are closed on Thursday.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Government offices, courts, and public schools are closed on Thursday due to inclement weather, according to a county alert.
All Fairfax County Public Schools and central offices are closed on Thursday. In-person and virtual learning are canceled. In addition, all FCPS meals distribution sites will be closed on Thursday as well.
The following FCPS activities on school grounds are also canceled:

- appointments for in-person assessments and interventions
- extracurricular activities
- interscholastic contests
- team practices
- field trips
- middle school after-school programs
- professional learning and training courses
- adult and community education classes
- recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
- Supporting Return to School (SRS) programs are closed
FCPS employees who have been designated as essential should follow the directions of their supervisor. Emergency administrative leave has been approved for all other personnel.
FCPS staff who are scheduled to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday should check the Inova website and their email accounts for updates.

The School Board meeting scheduled for Thursday will take place virtually and begin at 7 p.m.
Fairfax County employees have been given emergency administrative leave. Those employees who have been approved for telework, either fixed or occasional, are expect to telework on Thursday. Those employees may also use accrued leave whenever unscheduled or administrative leave are instituted and they are not eligible to receive extra compensation when teleworking.
Emergency service personnel are expert to report to work on Thursday as scheduled.
