Fairfax Supervisors Appoint 3 Reston Residents To RCC Board

RESTON, VA — The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed three Reston residents Tuesday to the nine-member Reston Community Center Board of Governors: William Keefe, William Penniman, and Vicky Wingert. The board made the appointments based on the request of Hunter Mill Supervisor Walter Alcorn.

Earlier this year, Reston residents voted in the 2020 RCC Preference Poll, which determined the three candidates who would serve three-year terms beginning on Nov. 2.

Here at the vote tallies for the top five candidates in the 2020 RCC Preference Poll:

• Vicky Wingert - 1,623
• William Keefe - 1,536
• William Penniman - 1,190
• Lorri Zell - 1,092
• Niels W. Pemberton - 376

An RCC Board member since 2014, Keefe previously served on the board from 2007-10. He is also an active member of Reston Association’s Board of Directors, the Reston Planning and Zoning Committee, Reston Youth Baseball and Reston Youth Basketball. He is the recipient of a 2017 Best of Reston Award.

A member of the RCC Board since 2006, Penniman has previously served as the Board’s secretary and treasurer. He is also a member of the Reston Planning and Zoning Committee, Reston Comprehensive Plan Task Force, the Sierra Club, and a former member of the Reston Master Plan Special Study Task Force.

Wingert has lived in Reston since 1973 and has been an RCC Board member since 2011. She has served as president of the Reston Historic Trust and is a founder of Friends of Reston. She's also a member of the Reston Association Board of Directors. In 2000, Wingert received a Best of Reston Award and was named a Simon Fellow in 2017.
