Families Volunteer on MLK Day Weekend

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day Weekend, Volunteer Fairfax hosted two events. They had their Annual Valentine’s Day Challenge and Give Together. These were two amazing events.

Saturday, January 18, 2014 was the Valentine’s Day Challenge at George Mason University. At the event, families made cards for college students that have aged out of foster care.

Every year for the past nine years that Volunteer Fairfax has been doing this there has been a goal.  This year’s goal was 2,500 cards.  Caring Kids Cards has been proud to be a part of it all those years.

These cards will be included in Valentine’s Day care packages for students who have aged out of foster care. That event is hosted by Foster Care to Success and this year it will be on February 1st for more information visit their page.

Monday, January 20, 2014 was Volunteer Fairfax’s Annual Give Together Day. There were three facilities with fun activities.

At the beginning you got a passport and after you went to each station you got it stamped. When you were done you did a reflection activity. Some of the activities included making scarves, filling up grocery bags with food, and making cards.

Visit the Caring Kids Cards Facebook page for more fun events to do with your family year round.
