Fatal Crash In Great Falls Under Investigation: Police

Fairfax County Police are working to determine if alcohol and speed may have been a factor in a Saturday night fatal crash in Great Falls.

GREAT FALLS, VA — A Maryland man is dead after the car he was driving left the road and flipped over late Saturday night near the intersection of Georgetown Pike and Old Dominion Drive in Great Falls, according to a Fairfax County Police release.

Around 10:53 p.m., Salavdro Alvarez Perez of Maryland, 24, was driving alone and heading east on Georgetown Pike when his 2021 Toyota Corrolla left the road, hit a fence and mailbox, then flipped over, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash and are investigating whether speed was also a factor.
