Fatal Crash On I-66 Causes Chaos Tuesday: Report

The crash reportedly happened in the Vienna area and blocked two lanes of eastbound I-66.

Tuesday morning's commute on Interstate 66 was a nightmare after a fatal accident followed by a second crash hours later in the eastbound lanes, according to a report.

WTOP reports that two right lanes on eastbound I-66 were blocked due to the second accident as of 8:40 a.m. The first crash had happened at around 4:30 a.m. and resulted in the death of an individual. A second person was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

WTOP's Neal Augenstein tweeted that traffic was diverted onto Rt. 123, and the crash was apparently caused by a small pickup truck that crushed a passenger car.
