Fellowship Square Foundation Names Christy Zeitz Its Executive Director

The Fellowship Square Foundation (FSF) Board of Directors has named Christy Zeitz to be its executive director.

The Fellowship Square Foundation (FSF) Board of Directors has named Christy Zeitz, formerly executive director of HomeAid Northern Virginia, to be its executive director.

“We are pleased to have Christy on board as the Foundation prepares to meet the challenge of providing needed affordable senior housing and services to residents of Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland,” said Foundation President Renee Jakobs. “She brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit management to FSF.”

Zeitz has a wide background in successful fundraising, community engagement, public relations and leadership development. Prior to her work at Chantilly, Va.-based HomeAid, she was director of development for the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance of Reston, VA.

After more than a year of strategic planning, the FSF Board of Directors decided to hire an executive director – a position that had been vacant for more than two years. Zeitz will be responsible for donor development, community outreach and oversight of FSF’s property management functions.

“Here in Northern Virginia we have nowhere near the level of housing for low-income seniors that we need, and this trend will only grow worse with the aging of baby-boomers and expanding redevelopment projects that drive prices up and put low-income seniors and the disabled increasingly at risk for housing they cannot afford. I’m thrilled to lead Fellowship Square Foundation and move initiatives forward to create solutions for low-income elderly and the disabled in our area who are most at risk for stable and affordable housing.”

Zeitz is a graduate of West Virginia University. In addition to her professional nonprofit leadership experience, she has also spent many hours volunteering with several local Northern Virginia non-profit organizations including OAR of Fairfax, the Naomi Project, and is a current appointee of the Fairfax County Domestic Violence Policy and Prevention Coordinating Council.

Based in Reston, Va., Fellowship Square Foundation (FSF) provides affordable housing and supportive services to more than 700 primarily low-income seniors and persons with disabilities. FSF operates four properties including Lake Anne Fellowship House and Hunters Woods Fellowship House (Reston, VA), as well as Lake Ridge (Woodbridge, VA) and Largo Landing (Upper Marlboro, MD) Fellowship Houses.
