Fire Causes More Than $18K In Damage To Reston Apartment
A Tuesday afternoon fire caused more than $18,000 in damage to a Reston apartment.

RESTON, VA — A Tuesday afternoon fire caused more than $18,000 in damage to a Reston-area apartment, according to a post on the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Twitter account.
Around 1:24 p.m., units were dispatched to the 2400 block of Pyrenees Court for the report of an apartment fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
Smoke alarms had alerted the two occupants of the fire in the apartment's bedroom. No injuries were reported to either civilians or fire personnel.

Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and the result of a malfunctioning surge protector. Fire investigators estimated the damage to be $18,750.
