Alpha Phi Alpha's charitable group looking for scholarship applicants
Fraternity's Joyce-Gillespie-Harrington Foundation in Fairfax/Reston area will award 10 scholarship winners at April gala in Chantilly

The Joyce-Gillespie-Harrington (JGH) Educational and Charitable Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the Zeta Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., will be accepting applications for the 2017 Joyce-Gillespie-Harrington (JGH) Jewel Scholarship until Feb. 24. JGH will present $1,500 scholarships to 10 area high school seniors. The scholarship awardees will be presented at the 37th Black & Gold Gala being held at Westfields Marriott Hotel in April with more than 400 guests celebrating the students’ achievements.
The JGH scholarship committee will evaluate student academic achievement, community service history, extracurricular activities and recommendations to determine scholarship awardees. The award also requires the local area students to be graduating seniors enrolling in an accredited 4-year college or university for the Fall 2017-18 school year.

For over 36 years, the Joyce-Gillespie-Harrington Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. and members of the Zeta Upsilon Lambda Chapter have provided educational opportunities for students and scholarships for local area college-bound high school seniors.
