Teen Fatally Shot In Fredericksburg; Police Detain Person Of Interest
Fredericksburg police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man and seeking surveillance video from the public.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 19-year-old Fredericksburg man was killed in a shooting late Wednesday night, and police have detained a 24-year-old city resident who is considered a person of interest in the homicide.
The Fredericksburg Police Department said officers were dispatched at about shortly after 11 p.m. after the city's E-911 Center received reports of shots fired in the 200 block of Ivanhoe Court. The first officer arrived two minutes later and found an adult man dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses gave officers a description of a single suspect, which was broadcast to responding units. Police said officers quickly located and detained Emmanuel Killeen, 24, of Fredericksburg, who matched the description. Killeen was found with two firearms, according to police.

Police identified the victim as Oscar Ruiz Mejia Jr., 19, of Fredericksburg. He was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Police said his family has been notified.
Person Of Interest Faces Weapons Charges
Killeen has not been charged with homicide. Police said he is considered a person of interest in the investigation and has been charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Killeen was arraigned Thursday in Fredericksburg General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, according to court records.
According to investigators, a verbal argument between the victim and another party occurred shortly before the shooting. Detectives continue to process evidence and investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The department has increased patrols in the Bragg Hill area and thanked the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office for assisting during the response.

Investigators are asking anyone with security camera footage recorded between 10:30 p.m. June 24 and midnight June 25, or anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, to contact the Fredericksburg Police Department at 540-373-3122, option 2.
