Golf Course Residents to Appeal BZA Decision to Circuit Court
Rescue Reston will also hold a live Webinar and Q&A session on Tuesday that anyone can join--see details below.

Ten Reston households, two Cluster associations and Rescue Reston are appealing the BZA April 15 decision on the Reston National Golf Course, Rescue Reston announced today.
Rescue Reston says that they’re appealing the decision to the Fairfax County Circuit Court because the “Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) chose to ignore evidence presented by the County staff, Rescue Reston, Reston Association and others and overturn in part a June 20, 2012, letter of the Zoning Administrator as to what zoning and legal hurdles existed for the golf course to be redeveloped with possible residential uses.”
The approved development plans from 1971 show the property zoned for golf course and permanent open space use only, Rescue Reston says.

In coordination with Rescue Reston, 10 Reston households and two Cluster Associations that border the golf course have retained land use attorney Randy Greehan of Greehan, Taves, Pandak & Stoner, to file an appeal to the Fairfax County Circuit Court regarding the BZA’s decision.
This appeal “will benefit all who live around Reston National Golf Course and all who enjoy Reston’s outdoor recreational amenities,” the rescue group says.

A live webcast on Tuesday, May 19, scheduled for 8 to 9 p.m. will feature an update on the appeal to the Circuit Court in defense of the golf course and “open space uses that Reston has always expected at the 166-acre Reston National Golf Course,” the group says.
Rescue Reston’s Connie Hartke, David Burns and John Pinkman, plus Randy Greehan, will provide an overview of the timeline of events, discuss the impact of the BZA’s decision and provide information about the appeal filed with the Circuit Court.
An open Q&A will be part of the webcast.
