Graphic Details Emerge In Slaying Of Muslim Reston Teen: Report

The unsealed warrant indicates that there was blood throughout suspect Darwin Martinez Torres' car after Nabra Hassanen was killed.

RESTON, VA — The man accused of killing a Muslim girl from Reston earlier this year and dumping her in a nearby pond was the one who led detectives to the body of 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen, according to a report.

The Washington Post, which obtained the unsealed search warrant, reported that the suspect -- 22-year-old Darwin Martinez Torres -- was shirtless and wasn't wearing shoes when officers told him to get out of the car. There were blood stains on both the back seat and the passenger-side door of the red Pontiac sedan he was driving.

In addition, eyeglasses and sandals that may have had blood on them were found on the sidewalk near where Hassanen had last been seen in the Herndon area.

Torres is accused of getting into a dispute with a group of friends Hassanen was walking with toward her mosque in June. Eventually, the dispute escalated prompting everyone to scatter, and Torres targeted his rage at Hassanen, who police believe was beaten to death. The incident set off a nationwide firestorm due to the apparent hate-motivated nature of the attack, but police say the killing was a road rage incident and not a hate crime. Torres is an immigrant from El Salvador.
