Healthy Eating... The Time to Start is Now!

The mega eating time of the year is fast approaching and it is best to be ready for it now. With a little pre-planning and a shift in your thinking about food and your weight will go a long way to helping keep your waistline in check.

Here are a few simple strategies to help keep your eating under control during this food focused time of year.

#1 Eat Less Food Than You Think You Need
Most excess weight gain comes from overeating. Learning to visualize a portion size that matches your activity and metabolism is essential to a healthy weight. Knowing your correct portion sizes makes weight loss that much easier.

#2 Stop Emotional Eating
Emotional over-eating leads to unhealthy weight gain. It is important to evaluate your eating habits and recognize emotional eating vs. food intake related to your body's need for nutrition. Stopping emotional eating will make a big difference in the number you see when stepping on the scale.

#3 Get Active to Reduce Stress
You can't practically burn-off excess calories. Do the math and you will realize that it takes many more hours than you have in a day to make-up for eating more food than your body needs for nutrition. Exercise should be health-based and focus on reducing stress and eliminating pain. The less you experience the less food you will eat.
