Homicide Charge Filed Against Son In Fatal Stabbing Of His Father

Fairfax County Police arrested a Reston man Saturday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his father in a Reston apartment.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested a Reston man Saturday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his father, according to a police release.

Officers responded to a call for help just before 9 a.m., on Saturday, to an apartment in the 11800 block of Shire Court. Once they arrived, the officers found Kenneth Jahelka, 66, of Reston, suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Also in the apartment was Alexander Jahelka, 24, of Reston, who police later identified as the victim's son.

After a preliminary investigation, police charged Alexander Jahelka with second degree murder. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

Specialists from the Victim Services Devision of the Major Crimes Bureau were dispatched to provide family members with the appropriate resources and assistance.
