How To Recycle Christmas Trees In Reston In 2022
Christmas tree recycling will be provided for Fairfax County trash collection services after the New Year's holiday.

RESTON, VA — As Christmas comes and goes, you may wonder when is the best time to put out your Christmas tree on the curb. Depending on how early you got your tree, it may be starting to dry out.
For trash and recycling customers in Fairfax County, Christmas trees will be collected from Jan. 3 to 14. Lights, decorations and stands must be removed to ensure trees will be collected. After Jan. 14, schedule a brush special collection for Christmas tree removal.
Before setting out Christmas trees for recycling, remove all ornaments, tinsel and stands. Trees should not be placed in bags.

The National Fire Protection Association recommends taking your Christmas tree outside after Christmas or when the tree is dried out, as dried-out trees can create a fire hazard. Dried-out trees should not be left inside a home or garage or leaning against a home.
