I've been wanting a pair of boyfriend jeans but wasn't sure I'd like them or that they'd look good on me. I picked up a pair at Loft at such a deep discount that I couldn't go wrong. Now that I have them, Jessica can you give me some tips on how to wear them?
Jessica says:
Boyfriend jeans are to look faded and broken in. They may have a few tears -- but don't over do it. You don't want to look messy.
Please make sure they fit in the waist and are just loose around the legs and not so baggy. We want to see your figure. Otherwise you will appear bigger.
Like all jeans, boyfriend jeans come in many styles and fits so please try on a few pairs to find the right fit for your body type.
- Mid to high waist will mask a thicker mid section
- Low waisted will help give a more hour glass appearance
- Darker wash are more versatile since they can be dressed up or down. The darker wash brings more attention to the upper body.
- Lighter wash is more casual and youthful.
A few styling tips:
- Contrast the "boyfriend" feel with feminine tops and accessories.
- Tuck in a shirt or thin sweater, and add a belt, this will show off your shape and keep you looking neat and put together.
- Wear a blazer or thin cardigan to add a structured more fitted look...perfect for casual Friday at the office.
- It is best to cuff the jeans (as shown above) and have the jeans fit at the waist.
