Hundreds March Near Reston Town Center to Protest Paid Parking [Video]

The group chanted "park free RTC" as they walked, and passing cars honked their horns in support.

RESTON, VA — Hundreds of protesters marched Saturday near Reston Town Center -- they weren't allowed on RTC grounds -- to protest the introduction of paid parking.

Chanting "park free RTC," they waved signs reading "free RTC," "say no to greed," "Rip-off Town Center" and other sentiments as they marched.

Cars honked as they drove past in a show of support.

Opposition to the introduction of paid parking and the ParkRTC app has been stiff ever since RTC manager Boston Properties announced the move. Paid parking began Jan. 3, and retailers say they've seen sales plummet as customers don't want to pay for parking. They are currently examining representation as they face a potential legal battle with BP.
