Hurricane Irma Reston Update: Storm May Bring Showers Our Way Mid-Week

Hurricane Irma is currently making landfall in Florida and will cause some effect on our area in the next couple days or so.

RESTON, VA -- Hurricane Irma has made landfall as a category 4 on the Florida Keys and is expected to roll up the west Florida coast throughout the day. And we still have a pretty strong chance of feeling some of Irma's effects here in the D.C. area by midweek, according to one forecast.

The current track shows Irma moving up through the state of Florida and then heading northwest before suddenly taking an eastward turn around Tennessee. That could send some remnants of the storm our way by midweek according to the Capital Weather Gang.

Irma will have an effect on our weather even before she heads in our direction, with the storm pulling in clouds and moisture from the Atlantic into our area on Tuesday. Irma-related showers are possible on Wednesday if the current track holds, CWG reports.
